I got to take pictures of Lynx's first Dash 8 at BJC a few weeks ago:

I went back to BJC a few days ago to take a front-lit profile shot for a certain airline magazine. I asked about ramp access, and was granted it, but I couldn't take pictures of the Dash 8, F9's orders. According to airport ops, it was parked at BJC to keep it 'secret'.

Why would they park it in front of the terminal when it could easily go in some remote corner of DEN? Is there some connection between Lynx and BJC that I don't know about?

When will this one enter service? Anybody know anything about the delivery schedule and service plans?

Thanks!  Smile

Does the -400Q have any external carry-on holds in the belly like CRJ-700/-900?

So you went against F9's orders?

Nope, these shots were taken on a previous visit. I was actually invited out to the plane by Lynx employees that time.

If you reread the original post, he says he took the photos above two weeks ago. It was only after he went back to get a particular shot that he was denied.

I don't think so. I got to go in the cabin on the first visit too, and don't remember seeing them. There's no DirectTV 'bump' on the fuselage either.

The only thing I know is that F9 (cough QX cough) is removing the CRJ9 on the DEN-BIL route and replacing it with the -400Q...

I'm not sure what is "secret" - the photos are all over the web and Frontier has announced the first service:

http://flyfrontier.mediaroom.com/index.php?s=press_releases&item=1398

DEN-ICT on October 1, followed by DEN-SUX and DEN-RAP on October 5.

Lynx has its AOC from the DOT but the FAA has not signed off yet - they have approved everything, but have to have a period for "interested parties to comment".

FAA approval is expected by the end of August.

Denver To Sioux City: Sioux City To Denver:

Depart Time Arrive Time Depart Time Arrive Time

Yeah, ops made sure to point out that I could take as many shots as I wanted over the fence.

Thanks for the route info!  Smile

I believe BJC is relatively close to Lynx's headquarters in Westminster. That might explain the convenience factor of parking it at BJC so a lot of their groups can get access to it for training.

I know Frontier has had training for their managers and supervisors out at BJC. It's a sweet airport.

When are the other 9 aircraft to be delivered? They are all supposed to be on the property before the end of 2007. I would think we would be getting some more route announcements soon. Each plane should be able to do 6 or 7 flights a day (maybe more) due to the short routes. 10 planes equals alot of flights to announce soon.

Sioux Falls
Bozeman

With SAF getting a lot of new traffic, I have a hunch that Lynx Q400's are going to take over for the Big Sky 1900D's.

What do you think? DEN-SAF on a Lynx Q400?
