Etihad Airways is to raise its flying programme by 21% at the end of October, boosting its weekly total of flights from 564 to 716, with the increases impacting 17 routes.

For example, Etihad will up its weekly Bahrain service from 14 flights to 28, while Muscat will have 21 flights as opposed to seven.

Meanwhile, London Heathrow goes from 14 to 19 flights weekly and Frankfurt from seven to ten.

***Could someone please shed on more light on the new 5 weekly LHR bound flights i.e. timings and equipment being used...thanks

Don't forget Dublin; it goes from 4 to 6 a week! After GF cutting its route after 18 months, it's good to see EY increasing its route. I'm hoping EK looks again at DUB, because had it gone into that route a few years ago, it would be having the same success - or more (since it has a much bigger network from DXB than EY does, yet, from AUH).

Anyway, good to see EY expanding; long may it continue?

Any idea when we can expect EY's decision on the 787 -v- A350?

The 5 additional weekly flights leave AUH in the morning around 8-10am Wednesdays through Sundays and all operate with A345, as opposed to the other two daily flights, which operate with A346. Because of the Heathrow slot situation, the schedule is different each day, but I guess the airline will clear that out in due course.

Great news! Do you know what day of the week the 4th flight operates and if the timings are any different from the current 3?

Also would you have any information on what type of A332 are they currently operating to BRU these days?

Fourth flight is on Sunday, and the schedule will be quite a bit different from the others: arrival at BRU at 7 a.m., departure at 11.10 a.m., flight number EY057 and EY058. With regards to which A330s, the RR-powered ones, as they have for a while.

I believe that the LGW flights end as a result of the increased LHR frequencies. I'm not sure what time the new services are or who they've got the slots from.

As of now, all 4 A345's are quite maxed out since 2 are allocated for the JFK daily, and the other 2 are for the SYD daily. If the A345's will go to LHR in the future, then JFK/SYD will get the A346, provided that more A346 would have arrived by then.

So who will get the A346? Can it actually fly to SYD?

Roni

It can theoretically speaking do it with more payload and pax than the A345, but i dont know what sort of effect AUH hot temperature will have on its performance

That was the first question that popped out of my head when I read the thread title. Where does EY get those extra LHR slots or do they magically appear? Or does EY have more slots but has not used them so far?

Yes they do, however their connection times to Europe from KWI leave a lot to be desired. I would love to give them a try, as I seem to have reached the end of my rope with KLM..

True.I looked it up online and apparantly 2 of the 4 BRU flights will depart as per current schedule (daytime) while the other two will depart at night from AUH.

KHI is also being increased from current 11 x week to double daily except Friday...hence 13 x week.

Exciting stuff from EY!

There are enough carriers at LHR willing to sell slots at the current market prices. Etihad have more cash spare than most carriers to outbid other buyers for them.

EY's A 320s will be flown to KWI, BAH, DOH, MCT, BEY, AMM, IKA, DAM, COK, TRV, CAI & KHI.

They bought 1 A 320 from a U.S. leasing company leased 2 from Air Malta and are getting 3 more in Q1 2008.

Thanks for the update

These A 320s should arrive soon coz these new fights will start by October and it already shows in Etihad reservation system as A 320 with a funny seat configuration

So any one knows what the configuration will be like? Tow or three classes? in my opinion it's more likely to be only tow classes.

Dose any one has photo of them or the dates they will arrive at AUH ?

Also the tow leased A330.200 A6-EYV/YW are out of the fleet

Wise and smart move from EY.

They do what GF should have always been doing.

I assume they won't wait long before ordering a few factory A320s.
