I remember there used to be a 747 at TIJ painted in Kabo Air colors, it had been parked there for a while and was being used for spares; now is no longer there and I can't remember it ever being dismanteled completely or trasported to another place, does anyone know what ever happened to it?
Also, what is the story behind the 747SP currently parked in the same place as the previous 747?......and who are these "Global Peace Ambassadors"?

I brought up basically the same question very recently. That 747SP has been there long enough to be visible as an SP at google satellite images.
On a related note, it was good to see Aero California back in business! I'm not really a fan of Mexicana's new livery, so a dash of color is a delight, along with Avolar - TIJ seems to be packing them in these days!!

Ferried YQT to MTJ (Tijuana, Mexico) to undergo service at Matrix, a heavy maintenance facility
4/22/2006 N4522V Global Peace Ambassadors Seen MTJ Seen sitting outside the AVOLAR hangar at Tijuana airport. It seems that work on the aircraft has not been started yet at this date. Several years ago, another B-747 arrived to the Tijuana airport for a major overhaul, but it was never repaired and eventually the aircraft was scrapped.
12/17/2006 N4522V GPI Seen TIJ Still sitting outside Avolar hangar. No work taking place. Engines uncovered, and no measures appear to have been taken to preserve the planes serviceability.
2/1/2007 N4522V For Sale Aircraft is reportedly for sale.
