I just got word from the Airport Manager at LGB that on August 21, there will be a kick-off meeting to unveil the NEW design for the terminal AND that meeting will be the "ribbon cutting" meeting to ACTUALLY start the new terminal!! Very good news!! What are all of you guys' ideas about the new terminal?!?! I will follow up after the meeting

On behalf of all the NIMBYs in the greater Long Beach area, I say leave the tents and trailers where they are and let's cut back on the flights some more!!!!!
Seriously, good news. Maybe they'll use the occasion to announce details of the new XE service (and maybe more?)

I'll give you the benefit of a doubt, however I fail to see how the airport can simply come up with an alternate design after the City Council spent years on studies and public hearings to finally approve a plan in April.
In theory any changes would require Council approval which undoubtedly would come with lots of further community comment (read-opposition).
