On December 17, 2003, we will be celebrating 100 years of _confirmed_ powered flight by the Wright Brothers.

I am thinking that to celebrate the occasion, each of the long-lasting major airlines ought to seriously paint a few of their airliners in older liveries.

I suggest the following:

UA: one 757-200 in the 1960's livery and one 777-200ER in the 1980's livery.

AA: one 777-200ER in 1959 Astrojet livery, one 777-200ER in 1964 Astrojet livery, and a 737-800 in the livery used on the AA DC-3's in the 1930's.

CO: one 737-800 in the 1960's livery, and one 767-400ER in the 1980's livery.

DL: one 767-400ER or 777-200ER in the 1970's livery.

NW: one A320 and one 747-400 in the 1950's livery.

TW: one 757-200 and one 767-300ER in the 1960's livery.

BA: one 757-200 in the old British European Airways livery, one A320 in the old Dan-Air livery, and one 777-200ER in the British Overseas Airways Corporation livery.

AF: one A340-300 and one 777-200ER in the 1960's livery.

LH: one A340-300 and one 747-400 in the 1960's livery.

CI: one A340-500 or one 747-400 in the older CI livery with the Taiwanese flag.

CX: one A340-300 in the 1970's livery and one 747-400 in the 1960's livery.

JL: one 777-300 in the 1960's livery and one 747-400 in the previous livery (to the current one that is).

QF: one 747-400 in the 1959 "V-Jet" livery.

I'm sure there are others that can be done. It's a great way to honor the history of commercial aviation to see these old liveries again to celebrate the Wright Brothers' 100th anniversary of their first powered flight.
