I've heard on radio this morning that Air Vatican will take interests in Mistral Air, a subsidiary of the Italian Post and launch a dedicated low cost charter airline for catholic pilgrims all around Europe (Rome, Fatima, Lourdes, Medjugorje,...) and Jerusalem and Mexico as well. The aircrafts will wear Vatican official colors (White, Blue and Yellow) and '' I am searching for your face, Lord '' on them and everything on board linked to the religion. First flight will occur before the end of August to Lourdes (Tarbes Lourdes Pyrenees Airport) in France.

Any comment or more accurate information.

You'll know the pilots - they'll be the ones with "God is my co-pilot" stickers on their flight bags!

Should we address the stewardesses as "Miss" or "Sister" (tried to give up flying, but couldn't kick the habit!) ... Air marshals courtesy of the Christian Brothers (think Stasi without the same warmth).

As long as they keep flying the airplane! Last thing we need are pilots praying for a perfect outcome during an emergency or in IFR.

I had no idea that the Vatican had an airline or could have one.
I would love to have a couple of their safety cards.

I wonder if they will auction off their inaugural flight on eBay?  Confused

What a shame that they did not buy off all the Concordes prior to their grounding. The Vatican is so wealthy that it could have been feasible financially speaking of course... I am not sure about the rest...

Do they intend to fly out of FCO or CIA? I think that the City State is too small for an airport.

For the incoming christian tourist to Vatican, they will use probably CIA as Mistral Air is based there for their postal services with B737-300 QC and BA146 Cargo.

Not at all, the Vatican is more present than ever with Alitalia. It's a miracle they are still flying !

I'm joking, I really want Italy to get a great national airline, with perhaps AF/KL around...

hehehe... might I add:

"Candles, Bibles, and Rosaries may be used once once the captain turns off the 'no religious items sign' " or "Please return to your upright position for landing"

As a Catholic myself, it'd be interesting to see a Catholic airline in service.
