Well, I went for a visit to Miami, Florida. I was quite disapointed in the airport. I thought it would be like Orlando Int'l (MCO). But instead, its the worst U.S. airport I have ever been to. Low ceiling, it smelled bad, very stuffy, old, dirty, EXTREMELY cramped baggage claim. No offense to those of you who live in Miami. Great city though! Went to the Florida Keys!
Kind regards.

Suprise, Suprise BA,
Miami's famouse for its crappy airport. Do you know that Miami has been constructing new facilities for as long as I can remember, but not much improvement. You have every right to call our airport the worst in the US, but all hope is not lost, There are plans to build another airport down in Homestead (About 45 minutes down from MIA) that will help ease up congestion in MIA.
If u ever feel depressed about urself, just remember that at one time you were the most vicious sperm in ur group.

I like my airport here in PBI.. West Palm Beach... when you park, you are literally an elevator ride away from the baggage claim and ticket counters :P

speaking of baggage claim, i think HKG's is the best..spacious and fast arrival....and very accurate info screen.! space? KLIA is the best..."Airport in the Forest"
is very free...not busy!

I just went to St. Pete and Tampa. Tampa was okay, almost EVERYTHING was delayed at least 20 minutes in arrivals, and it didn't have much. St. Pete had some good facilities, several baggage claims, and NO Jetways. Got some pics of Canada 3000 and AirTransat, along w/ UPS, and the Metlife Blimp.

I was in FLL a few months ago....and it looked old, musty, with construction going on all around INSIDE.
Even the seats were an old style. Decor with a dumb "tropical" theme and pastel colors and lots of palm trees. OK, like everyone coming through that terminal has never seen a palm tree!! I was in ATL just an hourand a half earlier, and a world of difference!
Now THAT'S an airport!
The only thing MIA has going for it, is you can stand next to the runway (27) so close to the planes that you think you can touch them. And when a 747-400 is rotating at VR speed right before your eyes, the noise, vibration, and wind beats any photograph you can take. of course, you can also take some great photos!

Which runway is that??? I'm headed down to RSW in feb. but i was going to take a side trip (just one day) to go to MIA and FLL. Who else wants to go? it would be the 8th or 9th of feb..that's a thursday and friday, respectively. i'd like to have somebody join me because i don't know my way around the airport, as i've never been to miami before. on another note, MCO was one of the best airports i've ever been to. How's that new terminal (airside 4 i think) coming along? or is it completely finished already?

ive go to MIA all the time and the best aircraft to watch takeoff right in front of you is the cargo DC-10.

At MIA it is the south runway east-west. Just find perimeter Road....take the Red Road exit from the highway. I can't remember exactly the street names but you can find it easily on any map.
At FLL, go to the Viewing Area - west end of ruwnay 9. Take Perimeter Rd. around to there. Pretty close-up action but few heavies.

There are quite a few good spots to watch planes at MIA. It used to be a lot better in the '80's though. However, go to the intersection spot of Runway 12 and 9L. That's a good spot to take photos as there are holes in the fence to stick your camera in. Also, sitting out next to 9R which was already mentioned is a good place to watch planes. There is also a food vendor out there if you get hungry.
