In an interesting twist to the normal Hawaii fare sale routine, this time Hawaiian Airlines has pulled the trigger by offering $25 interisland fares good thru September 30th.

Interestingly, go! has not matched as of yet.

Surprised that Hawaiian Airlines is bowing down to such low fares. Is GO taking that many of their loyal FF'ers away? I would have thought for sure that they had a loyal enough FF base not to have to drop fares so low. Wonder what the year end financials will be like if this continues.

According to their 2nd quarter earnings call guidance going forward they expect 6-8% RASM decline on flat (86%) LF, and draw down on cash during the 2nd half of '07.

Could be that now with schools starting up, and summer drawing to an end they see some softness and want to stimulate things while generating some cash in the mean time.

I'm sure the $70+barrel fuel does not help either with long haul 767 flying representing 70% of the business.

go! pulled another $1 sale on Monday/Tuesday this week.

Aloha has matched the $25 fare, as has go!.

We don't really know who started since HA is usually the fastest one to update its website. Just because it was there 1st doesn't mean they started it.

That was one day only "hurricane special" on flights to the Big Island, with AQ & HA matching with $19 fares however expanding the scope to all destinations.

Sure we do. HA filed(pushed out to res systems) this fare many hours prior last night before go! responded this am.

Got that a little wrong.

$25 interisland fares offered
Friday August 17, 3:14 pm ET

In the latest installment of Hawaii's air-fare wars, the three top interisland carriers are each offering one-way tickets for as low as $25, for travel Friday through Sept. 30.
go! airlines, whose parent company is Phoenix-based Mesa Air Group (Nasdaq: MESA - News), announced Thursday the Web-only fare must be purchased before 11:59 p.m. Sunday.

Hawaiian Airlines (Nasdaq: SA)">HA - News) and privately owned Aloha Airlines immediately matched the fare.

The tickets are nonrefundable, and there are restrictions for travel over the Labor Day weekend.

According to Galleilo the HA fare was filed around 5am EDT. go! fare did not come up till almost noon.
So HA must have knew about go!'s plans and simply published them well in advance.
