Too bad Japanese airports don't have more apron space. The islands of Okinawa are much closer to Taiwan than the Philippines.
Some Japanese airports may get some transpac diverts too.
Most of the pax flights would probably be just held at the North American cities.

For a while, this typhoon had like 910 hpa at the center and 55 meters per second wind.

I have never seen a typhoon this strong, ever. I think the strongest one that I saw was 50 meters per second.

Flown on: DC-10-30, B747-200B, B747-300, B747-300SR, B747-400, B747-400D, B767-300, B777-200, B777-200ER, B777-300

Fotunately, the typhoon weakened slightly before making landfall.
It could really be an active typhoon season in the western Pacific.
