Hello guys!

Can anyone help me out on this? I did a search and even googled it and nothing came up. A client of mine was on TP354/19Aug LIS-LHR and the flight was canceled due to a strike. Was this a surprise strike? Trying to get information regarding this. I know EI has a strike planned for this week. What fun! NOT!

Thanks much! Happy Monday (well here in Dallas at least)

Tap along with other airlines suffered delays and some cancelations due to the strike of GroundForce the entity responsible for ground handling at Portuguese airports.

Hopefully the following link will help answer some questions.  Smile

Weekend airport chaos?

http://portugalresident.com/portugalresident/showstory.asp?ID=20688

PASSENGERS FACE airport misery across Portugal this weekend after staff at ground handling company Groundforce announced a 48-hour strike over pay and working hours.

Airports affected are Lisbon, Faro, Porto, Funchal and Porto Santo airports. Almost all flights arriving and departing are expected to be hit, including internal flights, and people have been warned to expect lengthy delays tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday.

Only airports in the Azores and flights departing to the islands will not be affected as Groundforce does not operate there and the outbound flights are considered necessary.

Regards,
Wings

The strike was not as bad as some news make it seem. When I first heard about the strike I though: Great, the second most incompetent ground handling crew in all of Europe will be striking for better work conditions. Ironic, maybe they should start working first, then ask for a raise. Over the weekend few flights were canceled or delayed due to the strike which Union official say it reached as much as 90% adherence. So, 90% of these guys don't show up for work and in the eyes of may passengers, "it's business as usual", LOL. I guess they just proved what everyone already knew about them  Smile
