Do I need a Russian Transit Visa if I am transferring from Delta to Air Astana at SVO?

I am doing the same on the way back.

Do you have a boarding pass for your Air Astana flight? Can you sen the luggage through to Kazakhstan?
If the answer to both is no, I am afraid that you need a transit visa that is also because you will have to change terminals. I would better check with the airline anyway

You can only transit visa free if your luggage can be checked in all the way, and if the airlines are in the same terminal, that would be terminal 2. There is a transit bus running from terminal 2 to terminal 1 for CIS country transfers, but I'm pretty sure that it's only available for Aeroflot passengers.

Last flight: SAW-CPH on H9 on 02/11/09 - Next Flights: 23/12/09 CPH-AAL on QI, 30/12/09 CPH-LHR on SK, 19/01/10 CPH-CDG-

If both flights leave from SVO2 (Sheremetyevo Airport Terminal 2) then youdo not ned a visa as long as you stay airside.

If your Air Astana flight leaves from SVO1, then you need a transit visa. In my experience, it is easier to get a tourist visa than transit visa for Russia.

Transiting in Sheremetyevo is a miserable experience, though. If you're travelling C-Class, they won't let you use the lounge until two hours before departure.
