Avianca Airlines selects Rockwell Collins avionics for 38 aircraft

Avianca Airlines has announced it will equip 38 new aircraft with an expanded suite of Rockwell Collins avionics. The national flag air carrier of Colombia will include a MultiScan Hazard Detection System in their order. Delivery is scheduled for early 2008.

Rockwell Collins' award-winning WXR-2100 is the first and only radar that analyzes and determines actual weather hazards, not simply atmospheric moisture content. MultiScan is a fully automatic, hands-free airborne radar system with more than four years of operational experience that reduces pilot workload and enhances safety and passenger comfort by minimizing unexpected turbulence encounters, and provides optimal clutter-free weather detection from the nose of the aircraft to 320 nautical miles.

Other products to be supplied to Avianca include: HFS-900D HF Data Link Communications System, CPL-920D HF Coupler Unit, and RDMI-743 Radio Distance Magnetic Indicator. Avianca Airlines is the first airline founded on the Americas and main airline of Colombia (South America).

Rockwell Collins (NYSE: COL) is a pioneer in the development and deployment of innovative communication and aviation electronics solutions for both commercial and government applications. Our expertise in flight deck avionics, cabin electronics, mission communications, information management and simulation and training is delivered by 19,000 employees, and a global service and support network that crosses 27 countries. Question: What exactly is the function of the HFS-900D HF Data Link Communications System, the CPL-920D HF Coupler Unit, and RDMI-743 Radio Distance Magnetic Indicator?

Quoting RICARIZA (Thread starter):

I guess I found the answer to my question:
Rockwell Collins HFS-900D Data Radio provides a low-cost, long-range data link system for fleets operating in oceanic, polar and remote land areas. When paired with the Rockwell Collins CPL-920D Digital Antenna Coupler, the HFS-900D high frequency data link (HFDL) system provides the high reliability system needed for HFDL applications.
