i have been a BMI card member for 4 yrs and and got my silver status.......it doesn't seem to mean anything though.
i booked flight to oz from the UK with miles and cash. why is it there are no business class seats available ever. i managed to get the UK-SIN leg sorted but oz side is completely full. i can buy the bus class seat on their website but bmi can't let me have it.
why is this so and is there any way i can upgrade
just realised as its november i may even be on thr A380 to sydney....

Yeah you would nearly need to book 10 months out !!! Its so hard to get seats . Ive been saving my miles for SQ A380 in J for Feb but im not sure I will get availability now !!! May just have to fork out for full J class fare .

I know SQ have been blocking reward seats on their new F/J seats, I guess they would rather sell them than give them away. If you want to go to Oz you could try UA, not as flash but you may find seats on the dates you want. Well done on making BD silver, only 38000 more miles and the magic world of star gold is yours!

Your bmi Silver status is completely unrelated to award availability, some airlines allow you to book redemptions into revenue inventory but only at the very top, Air Canada Super Elite and upper echelons of BAEC Gold...
To be honest don't expect much from bmi Silver, it is extremely easy to attain and therefore has minimal benefits. You can access some of the bmi lounges and have access to Business Class checkin when flying *A but that's about it. Oh, and free food and drink on bmi flights if you are in economy. bmi Gold isn't half bad though

Or NZ to AKL and take a hop to SYD...I've not flown NZ's product but have heard very good things and it certainly beats UA C to a pulp.
