Can someone please tell me if KLM 747 Economy has the same IFE as the 777?

It does not. They have overhead screens in the aisle.

No it does not! It has overhead CRT monitors hanging in the aisles, and as far as I remember (on the Combis at least) no overhead projection on the bulkheads. Still, the seats are really good, in my experience the best Y seats over there. Good old 80s/90s style!

Will they be getting the upgrade to PTVs?

Hi!

Like other fellows said, at least until I flew with them back to May 2005 the 744 didn't have the same features has the 777 ( very, very good ones!!! ). I had the chance to fly AMS/KIX/AMS with KL....AMS/KIX with KL 777 and KIX/AMS with 744 and the 744 didn't have those! But I can tell you the service was great in both flights but...the 777 flight was very nice indeed!
Regards

I flew on their 777 a handful of times. But, now flight 644 from JFK - AMS is operated by the 747 and it will be very annoying to fly without having anything to do. Plus, they are pushing cheaper fares on the 747.

Simple...644 is a late evening flight...go to sleep. It's a short flight anyway.

As said earlier, in my experience the 747 seats are much better than the 777 ones, and the cabin feels much roomier too. In my opinion, this greatly compensates for lack of PTVs, and I'd prefer this layout anyday above a crammed 772 cabin with PTVs. As for the overhead IFE, there are mainstream movies, with between them the airshow slides with map and flight data.

Hi!

If you are flying during this month ( August 2007 ) you'll see "Shrek the Third"!!! If you're flying next month ( September 2007 ) you'll get "Oceans Thirteen"!

I flew MAN-ORD on AA without PTVs. I thought i would hate it, just take a book and you'll be fine... this was a daytime flight too. During the night you're supposed to sleep, I know i wish i could because i suffer from jetlag really badly.

I have flown on both the KLM 747-400 and KLM 777-200 in Y and would have to say that I found the seats on the 747-400 more comfortable then the ones on the 777-200.

It is operated by a mix of 747-400M and 777-200 and come next summer the 777-300ER will be added to that mix.
