I just noticed this AC A340-500 in Beijing while browsing the latest uploads:

I thought AC only ran their 340-500s to Hong Kong. Was this a replacement for a 763 or 343? Nice to see one besides just YYZ and HKG.

Cheers

The YYZ-HKG route is now flying the B77L. The A345's are being used on other YYZ-China routes until they are phased out - which is soon.

Just noted with a quick search that it was also recently spotted in Narita:

Are they filling in on other routes perhaps while they wait to be transferred? Are they off the hong kong run now that the 772LRs have arrived?

Never seen anything "official" but TAM is the rumoured takers. Not sure if they were bought from AC or whether AC is sub-leasing them as they have been with some of the other aircraft they've been removing from the fleet lately.

I believe that you may find the answer to your question in this thread.

According to ATDB.org, both 345's will be removed from AC service in Sept. New regs for TAM will be PT-MSK/MSL.

Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

Gents,

TAM's new flight to FRA is already in the CRS and the equip shows 340, so the rumors are more than true. We'll be seeing 2 ex AC 345 in TAM's livery very soon.

Cheers!

M.

This should clear things up a bit!

Original plan concurrent with the A345's being removed from AC015/016 (HKG) was to redeploy them on the YYZ-PVG route. As is often the case, things change rapidly at AC. They are making the rounds flying to PVG/NRT/PEK & LHR.

Thanks for the update!!! This is a very interesting page.

For those interested in brazilian civil aviation, this is our best and most reliable source:

Whatever you see in here is pretty much 100% confirmed - might take a while before rumors find their way in here, but they only do if they are indeed confirmed. There are of course a couple of exceptions, but plans change very quickly as everyone here knows.

Cheers,

Marcelo
