I hope not to be off topic. This is after all about civil aviation, albeit trying to fly non-revenue on VS.
I have never had the pleasure so far to fly on Virgin but I was seriously contemplating getting a ZED fare on their LGW TAB route. When I price an itinerary on the VS website, the fare seems pretty low for the dates I am looking for (outbound 13th Sep return from TAB to LGW 27th), it brings an N class fare at under GBP400 with taxes. Yet when I called VS I was informed that non-reving is not an option as the flights are "full" (by this I would understand fully oversold) both ways. The person I was talking to would not even list me for the flight. I know not to be pushy when calling as a non-rev and I did not insist. But I am somehow puzzled. Could any of you out there who may travel stand-by on VS on a regular basis please let me know if this is normal procedure?
Thanks in advance.
