Hi every one sorry for the bad quality of the photos.
This is Etihad A320 … it looks nice and hopefully we can see more of these babies in the fleet soon.
That was quick! They only announced the introduction of the A320's a few weeks back.... was obviously in the pipeline for a while. I presume this aircraft is on lease from somewhere?
Although I'm not a big fan of EY's livery, I must say it looks quite good on the A320.

I agree. That weird eagle shit on the tail is downright menacing. But they're a very promising airline, I have flown their 777-300s from London to Abu Dhabi en route to and from Iran and had great flights, some of the best ever. Another couple of years and they'll really be rocking and rolling. And to come back to what Joker said, that livery looks great on the A320, even the spooky eagle shit. Alway like the fuselage design actually but here again, it looks really great on the A320.
I bet Etihad's A320s are really pimped out like the MEA A321s (only 150 pax), proper big business class seats in the front, AVOD throughout etc.
(As a complete tangent, I was impressed to discover last week that Belavia's 737-500s have a fantastic business class, huge and comfortable recliners (2-2) with masses of legroom. Three rows goes almost back to the wing.)
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

I agree. They are expanding quickly, but they appear to be trying to keep quality over quantity. I'm a big fan of most of the middle east carriers but i think with the rapid expansion of EK and QR, often, some service is lost.

Quoting Stylo777 (Reply 3): great! on which routes this baby will operate'?
They are planning to use it on the inter gulf routes like DOH,BAH, etc as they obviously realized that it is not to good to send a 332 or even bigger on these routes.

I really like the Etihad livery (More than EK)...
The fuselage is fantastic (painted) and the colours they use are amazing. I saw it up close on the SYD tarmac not too long ago and all i can say is whom ever designed it did a fantastic job. I hear the interior is really nice too!!

A bit more information on the A320 shown above.
The aircraft is an A320-211 equiped with CFM engines. It is ex. C-FMST of Air Canada and is leased from LAT Charter of Riga.

The A320 shown above is the first of six A320s to join the EY fleet. Three will join in September and October. The other three will arrive in 2008.
The configuration is:
Business Class: 20
Economy Class: 120
The first city to be served was Tehran on the 1st September. Cities to be served with the A320s are Beirut, Dammam, Karachi, Muscat, Bahrain, Cairo, Doha, Kuwait, Amman, Damascus and Tehran.

I think people will be disappointed about the downgrade from A332 to A320. Cairo must be more than 3 hours flight from Abu Dahbi!

I'm pleasantly surprised, this is one of the first things they've done that differs from EK!

I think that livery would have looked great on a 737-800 with winglets.

I was wondering if one of these UAE carriers would ever order a narrowbody. Glad to see Etihad did it, makes sense. Is Emirates up next?

I agree more with Cedarjet that this eagle tail is more the flag of some intimidating and currupt dictatorship and not fit for a 21st century free airline.
nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?

Ummm.... nope. They are actually pretty high density. Roughly akin to what you might find on a major US or European carrier.
Quoting YVRLTN (Reply 15):
Same as AC - presumably they do not have the old AC seats...
I should hope that they aren't keeping AC's interior config.... but that does sort of sound like it... kind of higher density than I had expected. If nothing else, they'd HAVE to get new seat covers.... AC's are quite distinctive.

God forbid an aircraft livery shows a little character, it must be from some dictatorship. It isn't white like the European flag airlines, oh no!

Quoting B742 (Reply 19): Yes for 9H-AEQ and 9H-AEP. Both A320-214 models from Air Malta.
Can someone tell my why Etihad is leasing a A320 from LAT Charter in RIX, then getting aircraft from Air Malta, while in July 2007 LAT Charter leased an A320 (YL-LCC) for three years to Air Malta. Is this a banker's game of some sort?

3 hours is nothing on an A320... Although if I was a local there, I would be disappointed about a fairly large downgrade like that as well.
Scotty doesn't know...
