Is this a new order or finalization of an earlier announcement?

Fair Use Excerpt: Boeing Co (BA) said it received an order from China Southern Airlines 1055.HK 600029.SS, China's largest carrier by fleet size, for 55 additional next-generation 737-700s and 737-800s.

The order is worth $3.8 billion at catalogue prices, Boeing said in a statement.

The 55 airplanes will add to the 129 737s already in China Southern's fleet and the 14 more 737s yet to be delivered from previous orders, Boeing said.

So we should see an increase of at least 77 airframes on Boeing's next orders update? 55 + Aeroflot's 22....

Boeing continues to be on pace for another big year. I'm sure the washers on the bolts in the slat assembly will be in place for this order!

I wonder if Airlines are just ordering 737s now to get in line for the 737RS; in other words, to hold 737RS slots.

Either way, China Southern will need large amounts of planes as China continues to grow economically.

When exactly will an airline take delivery if they order today?
