im looking at www.mccarran.com and i used to see all the scheduled HP/US flights to leave LAS around 11:45pm-12:00am. they arent being shown anymore. the only US flight to leave is US2842 from gate B24, and thats from Mesa. did they stop this tradition or something? they're usually booming about now left and right, and its pretty quiet.

Have you checked the HP/US website? They are probably much more accurate than the LAS website.

I would also suggest FlightAware aswell. Both the US website and Flightaware provide much better info than the McCarran website offers.

US cut back the red-eye LAS ops a whole lot a few months ago. The reason given was apparently a lack of demand/low yields. Not that the flights went away, but they shifted to a more daylight-friendly departure.

The cutbacks occur mainly on Tuesday and Saturday nights. Wednesdays have a little more activity, with Thursday, Friday, and Sunday being at full speed.
This will remain until around Thanksgiving, when we go back to our regular schedule.

Quoting LASOctoberB6 (Reply 7): where they go back to the redeye flights every night?
I would imagine.
Remember, LAS, just like PHX, is generally one of those places that's more popular in the winter due to the 100 degree temps in summer and 60/70 degree temps in winter. That may explain why loads and yields are low at the moment.

The red-eye to MCO used to be daily. It arrived from LAS and departed out for PHX.
The daytime flight would arrive from PHX and depart for LAS.

Ever tried to book a hotel room in Las Vegas between November and April? Good luck!! Weekend rooms are at a premium year-round, but they are actually easier to find outside of summer than mid-week rooms, as this is convention season.
When my grandmother (who moved to Las Vegas in 1946 - imagine what it was like then!!) passed away in March, 2005, my family was almost unable to attend because EVERY hotel room in the Las Vegas valley was filled, including Primm (Stateline) and Jean. We were almost at the point of staying in Mesquite or St. George, Utah, but my cousin's husband somehow found two rooms at the Fiesta in Henderson, thanks to his boss at the Caeser's chain.
Keep in mind, this was mid-week, not the weekend. There were four conventions that week, and we were quite grateful to just have those smoking rooms.

We have red-eye flights now, just not on Tuesdays or Saturdays. On these nights it is limited to PHL, PHX, CLT, SJC, FAT, and TUS (the last three do not operate on Saturday).

Not all. The redeye LAS-PDX leaves closer to midnight, as does LAS-PHX. It's been this way for as long as I can remember.

Yes, there's a whole bank of w/b "red-eyes" that depart Vegas between about 11:30pm and 12:30am (except Tu and Sa of course) including SAN-bound 532 which has operated for years as well.

That is right, I forgot that it changed to 5X week (no Tues/Sat) this month. Last month it was a daily.

There should be two an our apart, flights 2830 and 2835. First one departs LAS around 2250 and the second around 2350. I am working from memory on the departure times, but know I am pretty close.

I thought it varied depending on daylight saving time, because down in PHX they don't observe it and that's where HP/US is based. At the minimum, I remember going through LAS in October 2005 (flying PHX-LAS-COS) and there were lots of flights headed out. It was around midnight.

The only Saturday night late-night flights are the ones to Charlotte, Philadelphia, and Phoenix. Look tonight, and you'll see a lot more...The full list, from 10:30 PM to 11:59 PM is as follows:
Burma's constitutional referendum options: A. Yes, B. Go to Insein Prison!
25 IADCRJ: US Flight 2842 is an express flight operated by Mesa. The call sign for that flight via ATC would have been ASH (AirShuttle) 2842
26 IADCRJ: Was the FLL red eye recently discontinued? The last US redeye that I flew on out of LAS was to FLL back in May.
27 PanAm747: Question on this one: in late June, 2004, I flew SAN-LAS-MSP on the red-eye flight. At that time, I had an almost three-hour layover in Las Vegas, as
28 WhatUsaid: US is rescheduling their red-eye flights East, aren't they? I noted FAT-LAS is being moved to a 10pm departure. Return flight remains unchanged....
29 IADCRJ: Alot of airport area hotels have 24 shuttle service, if not, a taxi service would be provided for the crew. Often the case due rest requirements most
30 AirframeAS: I thought the last flight into PHX from LAS was still on a 752. At least, thats how it used to be.
31 Insiderinfo: YYZ is a redeye daily leaves at 1am.
32 IADCRJ: Didnt US until recently had a CRJ on this last LAS - PHX run for a while?
33 Itsnotfinals: Thanks But LAS does not change time and PHX operations would not have any impact on the LAS schedule.
34 Itsnotfinals: It's been a 319 for quite sometime (320 sometimes) and it's a non-rev wonderland the CRJ was the 3 rd to last flight 10:30 PM is ASH2986 CRJ 10:56
35 LASOctoberB6: im listening now but going to bed soon..
36 HPRamper: Many of those last-of-the-night flights are. They have saved my butt many times
37 HPLASOps: Hasn't been that way for at least 2 years - well before we started using all the 752s for the Hawaii flights. Not the last run. For about a year now,
38 SHUPirate1: Moved to a daytime flight. US888 leaves Las Vegas at 4:10 PM, arriving in Fort Lauderdale at 11:52 PM.
