I have a trip planned this winter and on the return trip, I would have to change planes and airports in NYC. I would arrive att LGA and then have to get to either JFK or EWR. How long does it take to get to these airports from LGA, and how much does it cost?

The best way is via bus. The time needed varies widely between which airport you are talking about and how bad traffic is that day. I would allow a minimum of two hours although on the worst of days that may not be enough. La Guardia to Kennedy is the easiest and quickest. The bus is less than $20 and is the least prone to delays because no tunnel or bridge into or out of Manhattan is involved.

If no traffic, you can go from LGA to JFK in 15 min. Taxi would be 10-12 dollars.

LGA to EWR is at least 45mns, but at rush hour more like 90mns. I'd say the cab would be $60. I do not know about a bus and I doubt this would be very frequent.

If I was connecting, I'd allow at least 3 hours between JFK and LGA, and 4 hours between JFK or LGA and EWR and I'd add an hour if there is a need to clear immigration and customs on arrival.

How do you figure? It's a 12-13 mile cab ride. NYC cabs charge 2.50 upon entry, and then $0.40 for each additional unit. The unit fare is one-fifth of a mile, when the taxicab is traveling at 6 miles an hour or more (so basically $2 per mile). That works out to about $26.

The NYC Taxi rate of fare website (http://www.nyc.gov/html/tlc/html/passenger/taxicab_rate.shtml) has a fare from JFK to LGA at $24-28.
