Does any one have news concerning when Turkish Airlines will officially enter the Star Alliance? I thought it was to occur in 2007 following the agreement signed last year. Any updates would be appreciated.

my impression was not before April 2008 , but I dont think an exact date has yet been set .
IIRC there is a list ( not publicly available AFAIK ) of 50-60 "star alliance requirements" which must be met before actual membership becomes effective and the actual commencement date depends on all these being completed

Quoting TYCOON (Thread starter): Does any one have news concerning when Turkish Airlines will officially enter the Star Alliance?
THY technically is a full Star member since last Decembers induction ceremony in Istanbul.
As mentioned they already have begun cooperation's with Austria and Lufthansa with the remainder of the network during the coming winter and into early 2008. Majority of work is centered on IT and back office harmonization.
Quoting American 767 (Reply 4): Why did they choose Star over One World? They should have considered joining One World.
TK spent 2 years reviewing and negotiating with all 3 alliances. Star however by far provided the greatest benefits particularly with revenue potential and providing prominence for the IST hub.

Quoting Kiwiandrew (Reply 1): there is a list ( not publicly available AFAIK ) of 50-60 "star alliance requirements" which must be met
1. Company must have at least one aircraft.
2. Aircraft must be airworthy.
3. Aircraft must be on a regular routing.
4. Aircraft must belong to an airline.
5. Airline should be willing to belong to an alliance.
6. Once above items are met-begin *alliance membership processes.

Since the end of may they also operate out of the LH/A* Terminal at MUC..... took one of the first flights out of Terminal 2 with TK.... have to say it was more than a pleasant flight experience. Couldn't have been better with LH which was twice the price.
As you may presently yourself be fully made aware of, my grammar sucks.
TK's agreements with LH and OS are already in effect though.
on a related SA topic....what date does Air China & Shanghai Airlines officially join SA? I know it is before TK. I know they already code-share with many SA members... but the miles accumulated are not "elite" qualifying.
