Bombardier recommended yesterday that Q400s with more than 10,000 cycles be grounded after the landing gear collapsed on two separate flights operated by SAS Scandinavian Airlines this week.
ANA had suspended all flights using 14 Q400, after the Canadian government said the craft must be inspected.
JAL had grounded all 10 of its aircraft of the same model earlier in the day but some are now up and flying after having been inspected.

Austrian Airlines regional subsidiary Austrian Arrows temporarily removed its 10 Q400s from operation and said it would "strictly comply" with the results of Bombardier's examination of the aircraft.

Flybe, which operates 74 Q400s, said that only six aircraft were affected. After inspecting the planes yesterday, the carrier said it was "back on track with only minimal delays."

Horizon Airlines, the North American launch customer for the aircraft, grounded 19 of its 33 Q400s. The airline immediately began accommodating passengers on flights operated by sister carrier Alaska Airlines, rebooked others or offered full refunds.

Frontier Airlines has taken delivery of two Q400s for its startup subsidiary Lynx Aviation but said it is not affected because the aircraft are new. It expects to take delivery of 10 by January.
