I believe the Conviasa A340 has gone back to CCS.

IIRC, it was recently seen at MAD operating a sector there.

If i'm right, thats FANTASTIC news....it means IR will keep the SP flying on THR-DAM-CCS run..

Not quite,

The CCS-DAM-THR will still run, but using IR equipment.......

this is probably the last chance you'll ever get to fly on a SP for the job it was built for...

i.e. long thin routes......

As for the A340, i think Conviasa realise they can earn alot more revenue on the CCS-MAD runs rather than a once weekly political run to the middle east because the two leaders are good buddys and really hate Mr Bush.

I've just checked Conviasa's web site, and they are still showing the Tehran /damascus run as being operated by a SP.

however, a check thru the photo database show's the Conviasa 340 at Madrid enroute THR in September this year...

so now i'm confused........
