There is a JetBlue A320 parked near the Intl. Arrivals at BDL today. The JetBlue markings are "painted over" on the fuselage and the tail.

Sorry, I couldn't get the reg. Anyone know why it's there ?

Cheers,

J.

The aircraft is presumably one of a batch that was due to be sold off around now. I believe delivery to the new owner was to take place at KBDL for these aircraft.

One of the aircraft that is getting sold. This is probably a test flight for the receiving company. Oddly enough, I believe this airport was used last year as well for one of the places that these flights went to after the tail and titles were painted over and engines changed. Possibly it has something to do with the financing company being up there or something? Anyway...that is one of the aircraft getting sold this year.

I must have missed that thread why is JetBlue getting rid of aircraft? Too old? Over capacity? Or end of lease perhaps..

Thanks!

Over-capacity. I know they sold some planes last year too but they'll still have a larger fleet at the end of the year than they did at the beginning.

There was one parked at the Runway 6 de-ice pad last Sunday (9/9) when I left for Atlanta. The one you saw must be a different one, and apparently came into BDL from Orlando:

The plan always did call out for the selling off some of the older aircraft once we started getting to a sufficient size fleet. It helps keep our average fleet age a little lower and lessens the burden of MX on a/c that are aging. While a couple of years old doesn't sound old...we still do fly the snot out of these things LOL!!! So, the selling off is more of a cost saving initiative by cycling out the old and bringing in the new, while deferring some of the deliveries was more of a way of keeping the over-capacity in check. Cycle out old, bring in new...just not too many.

Just my  twocents

Yup, the "de-JetBluerizing" of the a/c is taking place in MCO to make things a little easier with cutting off the IFE by LiveTV.
