Quoting Iflyatldl (Reply 14): Interesting question-There was a trip report about the Iran-Syria-CCS flight on the IranAir 747SP, and I can't remember where he said the crew was based. I want to say THR.
I believe that was so, which presents an interesting situation for visiting the US. Can an Iranian citizen enter the US?

Iranians can enter the United States. A friend of my dad is iranian and his family was here for three weeks. Really nice people. My dad's friend wants us to visit him and his family in Tehran. Only me and my dad want to go. Since my siblings are in school. And my mom has to take care of them. Its a beautiful country from what i hear.

It will for sure be Iran Air's EP-IAD (first choice, used for all long range official diplomatic traffic of Iranian leaders) or EP-IAB as the spare aircraft, both of them 74Ls. But so far, EP-IAD was the only one used for that purpose the last years.
The Islamic Republic of Iran's Air Force also runs two B707-300 VIP Aircraft (regs: 1001 and 1002), one for the President, the other one for the Supreme Leader. Usually these are only used for domestic or regional flights, but are sometimes seen in Geneva Cointrin. In February of this year, 1001 even made a very long journey across the pond to carry President Ahmadinejad to several southern American destinations, maybe because some of the destinations on schedule were not fitted to receive a 747SP, maybe because Iran AIr does not want to occupy one of their only two proper long-haulers for official use, not having it available for scheduled operations during a longer time.

Picked up EP-IAD 747sp on my SBS-1 box earlier overflying Manchester UK as IRA101 so would suspect this is the aircraft flying to New York, I picked him up at 2.30pm local so would expect it to arrive in New York 6-7 hours later around 3.30 - 4.30 local (New York time.)
Flying may not be all plain sailing, but the fun of it is worth the price.
