I attended the San Diego Red Bull air races Saturday. It was amazing and I had a blast. Between races, the crowd was entrained with aerial displays such as Naval BlackHawk rescues F18/F16/F5 B24/P51D and the Red Bull Parachute Team and more.
However, the real reason I am starting this topic is the aerobatic display of the helicopter doing back-flips, Cubans, barrel rolls and more. The Eurocopter BO-105 CBS 4 Twin engine helicopter was capable of these maneuvers because it was modified with a Rigid Rotor system. See the video and enjoy. What other Helicopters are capable of doing aerobatics similar to the BO-105 CBS 4?
I got their early so I toured the Midway museum and decided to watch the first race from the flight deck that gave me a elevated view but was kinda far from the action. The rest of the races I watched from the rocks of the north island it seemed to close for comfort some times. I am diffidently going back next year if it is held in San Diego again.
