Just posted a thread yesterday about Air China painting an A332 in Star Alliance colors - and here's the first picture:

B-6091 (MSN 867) is due for delivery in the next days. Air China will officially join Star Alliance on December 12 together with Shanghai Airlines.

I must say the StarAlliance livery in general is awfully boring.

Now I can fly to China on a hopefully decent Star Carrier  Wink

I look forward to trying out both airlines in 2008  Smile

Does Air China actually bring value to the Star Alliance? Or were they inducted as a simple compromise to penetrate the domestic air travel market in China. I haven't heard many beaming reviews about the service Air China provides.

But then again United and US Airways are hardly quality airlines in terms of service... more like expensive greyhound-esque carriers.

The tails should be painted in the native airline colours, like SQ do.

That red flag really sticks out like a sore thumb.

CA checklist:

  • Modern fleet of Airbus and Boeing jets  checkmark
  • Official Carrier of the 2008 Olympics  checkmark
  • Somewhat effective hubs positioned in China  checkmark
  • Large and expansive regional network  checkmark
  • Star Alliance livery jet  checkmark
  • Decent onboard service
  • Modern website

...the latter, which --------------------------wait on it-------------------------- brings value to the Star Alliance  Silly

It's probably well above US domestic standards, and they serve full meals on 2 hour flights, so how bad can it be. I thought it looked O.K.

SQ, OZ, and NH are not decent Star Alliance carriers, they are excellent Star Alliance carriers!

I don't think Air China will bring value to Star Alliance to be honest.

It's not majorly exciting but I don't see oneworld or Skyteam painting a/c from all their members into a livery as such.

And I must agree with you . How many planes should Air China repaint in the *A livery ? It should be a certain percentage as far as I know .
