I just wish they'd bump the ORD service to 738's.

Nice to see it will continue, though!

I don't see how AA could realistically cut PDX from ORD.

I'll be the first to say that routes can't really be maintained for the "prestige" of offering them. But with O'Hare as AA's second largest domestic hub, and AA's status as the largest airline in the world, i just don't see how they could eliminate the service.

Tired of airline bankruptcies....EA/PA/TW and finally DL.

738s do not fly to O'Hare. Can't happen.

AA only flies their 738's out of their DFW and MIA hubs. Likewise, MIA doesn't get any MD80's. DFW gets all fleet types. Up until a few years ago, ORD actually did see 738's.

Good to hear they are keeping the flights, even though they compete with my airline on the same route. There are some old time TWA agents working the AA counter. They might be around a little bit longer now. American needs to do something with their gate area though. They remodeled gates D2-4 when they moved over there. New carpet and stuff. Since they moved over to C13-15. They just kept the ugly Port carpet and walls. The bare white walls facing the ramp are really ugly.

False alarm guys. It isn't returning. Not sure why it is listed under the "new service routes" sections. Somebody put it there accidentally.

I have written in to Q&A to find out if this is a mistake or not. It can take them up to a week to respond, hopefully sooner. Until then, maybe we can get a definitive answer otherwise. I'll keep ya posted. In the meantime, the flights are not listed in SABRE for 17Dec or 18Dec.

How is the AA passengers load factor to ORD, DFW and MIA? Does AA has route between PDX to STL?

Can't tell you load factors, but I can tell you that MIA and STL don't have air service to Portland, St. Louis lost its flights in November 03.

Can't make a blanket statement, but I've tried the AA flight 3 times, never during summer or school holidays, and each time it blocked out with less than 5 open seats.

When in doubt, one B pump off

Not yet. I have checked SABRE again, as well, and no news on that front. In addition, AA maintains a file in SABRE with new/seasonal and discontinued service, and there is no mention of ORD-PDX coming back. It still says AA is exiting the market on 13Dec. Right now SABRE still shows AA having two flights ORD-PDX on 11Dec, one flight on 12Dec and no flights on 13Dec.

Previously the cancellation of ORD-PDX was addressed in the company Q&A and AA said the cancellation may or may not be permanent. The route may return for Spring/Summer '08.

False alarm. I've finally heard back from AA and indeed, the route is being suspended as announced on 13Dec. The route may return 7Apr08, but no firm decision has been made at this time. That decision is expected to be made sometime in the next few months.
