Okay, I know there was a discussion sometime ago about the reason that Atlas air does not paint all of their airplanes in their really great "default" gold & blue colour scheme. Is there any latest update as to why some planes have gone from the regular scheme to the drab looking blue & white, or sometimes just all white. Thanks for any knowledgeable replies.

Yes!!!! I do agree they do have a fantastic livery, but in all respect, if we could all get back to the original topic of when Atlas Air is going to paint all of their 747's in the original Atlas Gold & Royal Blue scheme. Please!!!!! reply only if you have any info. on the above post rather than discuss what you feel about Atlas Air.

Thank you for your consideration.

From what a Captain told me that flew with us a few weeks ago. The reason they do not paint them and some are indeed all white is for security reasons. It is better to not be able to figure out who the plane belongs to in some places in the world. Do not forget they do ALOT of goverment contract flying to the mid east and Asia.

Don't they sometimes even remove identifying decals when they assign a certain aircraft to government contract flying? I believe there is a picture of one of 5Y's 747 having flown fully painted, but later those decals were removed.

Why do they operate unpainted 747 for Emirates to Taipei?

Because they have a lease agreement with EK and most of the Atlas planes leased to Emirates are in full EK colours but I think they are returning to Atlas so this may be why it was all white.
