I know these were amongst the first ordered and I am wondering when XL are due to take delivery. They were ordered as a replacement for the ageing 757s werent they? perhaps these aircraft will help XL's reliability and punctuality.

Thank goodness for that. Excel started out such a good charter airline with their brand new 738s. Its only when they added the old TF registered 752s and 762s did their reliability become problematic.

Well they will be rid of the 757's by the end of October (one has already gone) and the 762's and 743's very shortly after  Smile

Wont they be a shortfall in capacity after the retirement of the 752s? I know its the Winter season but all those Canaries runs were good work for the 752s. I guess they will be eager to take delivery of the 739s for the Summer season.

Orion737, Excel has always operated TF aircraft, the B767-200 fleet was operating in 2001.
