What are the performance gain differences for both types of winglets?

I know that winglets are supposed to reduce the drag on an aircraft, and therefore helps cut down on the amount of fuel needed...other than that I don't know they make that much of a difference.

Winglets only make a difference on a long flight. From what I've heard, they have no effect on short hops.

Rake wingtip provides better fuel burn than regular winglet. That is why they put on B767-400ER. And they are supposed to be placed on 747x and new 777's. Deltaair, If you want more detailed performance gain with raked winglets, let me know.
