MA 91 Engine Failure- Returned To JFK

Hi Guys!

Just saw on the news that MA 91 had to return to JFK 15 min into the flight because of engine problems. It landed safely in JFK. BUD arrivals show the new arrival-time as 12 o'clock instead of 8.25 o'clock.

Which plane was it? HA-LHA, -LHB, -LHC?

What happened to the engine?

MAS91 is from EWR not JFK and flightaware shows nothing out of the normal

He's talking about MALÉV flight MA91 from JFK, not Malaysian MH91.

It must have been one of the B762s as LHC was in YYZ tonight. Hopefully it was HA-LHB as LHA is going to RG in a couple of weeks.

I'm going to try to find the ATC conversation between MA091 and JFK.

whatever happened it couldn't have been too serious as MA 091 is now airborne, it departed JFK at 10:41pm

Why hopefully -LHB? Wouldn't it be better MA keeps the plane which is working will, namely HA-LHB, and gives the "broken one to RG". Silly

I was surprised to learn that MA's B767s have a very low number of cycles, I guess that is why RG had no problem adding LHA to it's fleet despite it being the only -200ER that it's acquiring.

I'm not sure of the exact date but the plan was to have the second B763 in the fleet by Q2 2008. Apparently the new owners really want to streamline the fleet. The 4 CRJs are going and some B737 will be leased out. They also wan to enhance the long-haul fleet, but I'm unsure of the specifics.
