Am B737 - Seats W/o Windows

I have a question for my fellow a.nutters here with a connection to AM... There are seats in the 73G and the 738 which do not have windows... One row in the 73G and two rows in the 738.

The interesting part is these are sold as "premium" seats, and not only they lack a view, but have a reduced shoulder space; the siding panel does not curve inside like the windowed ones, but remains at the level of the frame's ribs...

Can anyone help me out figure out exactly which rows are those in order to absolutely avoid them?

They are in the same place on each 737NG version, but the exact row number depends on the airline in question. Seatguru does a pretty good job of telling you which rows they are on the limited number of airlines they cover. But Aeromexico isn't listed. You could, however, determine the right row by comparing AM's seatmaps to the ones you can find on the site.

The problem is AM's seat maps do not show in the website until after you've purchased the ticket...

I so much wish AM was enlisted in seatguru... Albeit I figure their B73G configuration must be very much like that of CO... rows 1 to 3 in J, rows 5 to 35 in Y, the bad row must be 7... Or 8?

dear cesnalady. you may refer to those windowless seats as the coolest, since the ac ducts pass right where the windows should be. they are sold as premium because -for some reason they have some extra leg room. they are located by the leading edge of each wing but exact seat number may differ even within the am fleet. i promise i will check the seatmaps in am,s timetable when i get back home and let you know.....

If that is truly the case, it would be 7A,F.

But if AM has a larger galley and closet in the front, that would push things back, making it 6A,F.

I doubt it would be 8A,F.

So to be safe, you can book row 5 or row 8 and beyond and never get them on the 73G.

What is AM's configuration on the 738?

I believe the first rows of Y, in thecase of B73G s and B738s up to two before the emergncy exit row are held apart for SkyTeam Elite Plus, SkyTeam Elite and full-fare and high-fare paying passengers. I also believe this is common practice mutatis mutandis in other SkyTeam airlines, such as CO, DL, NW, AF,, etc...

But I don't know if the "bad" row is #7 or #8... For one thing, I hate #5 (bulkhead), as I have no place to stretch my legs and absolutely despise to put my feet up the bulkhead (and the pigs who do so).

I think this is pretty much standard in some airlines: they won't release or assign those seats until the last moment to accommodate possible special requests (UMs, wheelchair, elderly, etc.)...

Fyano, Orbis, thanks for the input. I figure the bad row is #8.

Rows #6 & #9 cannot be booked on-line because they are put aside to accomodate pax with dissabilities; they can only be assigned by the counter desk agents at the airports.

Ikramerica, thanks! AM B73G's Y class indeed goes from rows 6 to 26.

Row 1 (bulkhead in front, no place to stretch legs)
Row 6 (same)
8A, 8F (windowless)
Row 11 (no recline)
Row 12 (no recline)
Row 25 (limited recline)

And I must add that row 3 in some cases have limited recline, also. The best choice for Clase Premier in 737NG is row 2, but If you must do some work, lets say with a laptop. the best choice if not the only is row 1.

Also, seat 1B lets you stretch your right leg since the left bulkhead is not alligned to the aisle.

I always find the last row of F/J might have a slight limited recline, but I prefer that to having someone behind me, since they always think leaning on my seat or even my head is the right way to get up from their seat...  Wink

A couple of MX's B752s used to have a bulkhead division which was hard in the upper half, and a short curtain in hte lower half. You could stretch your legs all right into J class without bothering anyone... I wonder why not more airlines go mor a simple, smart solution like that...

Others (UA, for example) have made gaps into the dividing bulkheads, specifically to place the feet... But still very few...

The bulkheads behind a galley may be more diffficult to design in a different manner, but still, the airline should give up a few inches in behalf of some J-paying, very tall passengers...

I agree, for the customer it's nice. But I've seen a lot of things stored in that space between the dividing bulkead and the last row of premium. Things like crew luggage, demonstration equipment, oxygen, a bag of headphones, etc. No idea if that's the reason, but with the ever decreasing size of crew closets, every square foot matters, right?
