They dropped flights to Newark a few years ago, but it looks like now they're trying from Cleveland. Looks like they'll be the airport's only scheduled jet service providor.

Why would anyone in Cleveland fly to Atlantic City when they can fly to Vegas for a little bit more?

The flights will probably be cheap, and to people in the East, Las Vegas is as far away as Hawaii to many of them. Atlantic City is much more attractive to them and isn't as crowded with tourists, mainly schoolteachers on their day off coming down for the day.

Remember American International Airlines? Back on the mid 80's, they had a small hub in Atlantic City!

B777UA,
I think that Continental will start off with an ERJ 135 to test the market. I'm not even sure if it will warrant anything more than that, however, especially from Cleveland. But then again, CO is the only airline to ooffer scheduled jet service there, so it might become a big sucess.

The article states that it will be subsidised by AC. I wonder how much $ to get CO to fly there?

ACY does have scheduled jet service with Spirit operating several daily flights to various destinations.

Recently, Spirit Airlines dropped Cleveland from Atlantic City. That's why Continential might want to run routes to Cleveland's hub feeders.

They already flew this route back in 1998 I believe using a turbo-prop and the route was scrapped. Spirit also tried this route with a DC-9 and it failed also. I think the majority of Clevelanders and the surroundings cities like to go to Vegas. This route won't last long.
