I think a good amount of passengers will be O/D so connections will not be an issue.

Where are they getting all these new aircraft for the 12+ routes they are adding between now and Jan. 17th. They have slowed deliveries of there planes, and have sold some A320's. So There must be some cuts in the system somewhere. Can anyone find them?

Either that or there big announcement for Oct. Is scaling back some cities.

Any thoughts?

Slowed yes, but not to a screeching halt on new deliveries. I don't know if we have sold any planes yet this year. I may be wrong on that.

They are taking one flight from CLT/RDU/RIC and instead of turning it back to JFK, they will turn it to FLL. So when these new FLL routes start, CLT/RDU/RIC-JFK will each have 3x Daily.

Its almost the same distance as San Juan... Aruba is even further and we do fine there. I don't think it will be a problem at all.

It's not the range that's a problem, it's the short runway in SXM with an obstacle at one end.

That's toward the end of the international arrival rush, so I wouldn't think that customs would be onerous. Plus, T4 handles customs well.

Come on, it's not that short! The A320 will do fine.

in any case...its great to hear about SXM! maybe one of these days i'll actually head there!

They have more engines, and the all of them, with the exception of the AF 343 stop in nearby destinations before continuing back to Europe.

As for both POP and SXM, JFK is a MUCH BETTER O&D market than ATL. I think DL would have done better with POP from JFK rather than ATL. I think likewise they would compete very well with AA for JFK-SXM service. While ATL is a great hub with a great deal of connectivity, it just won't work the same way MIA will for AA. B6 is doing this right from the start, and JFK (or even EWR) along with FLL work better for flights to the D.R. and St Maarten than ATL could likely ever offer. twocents
