I was at SNA for the first time in quite a while and I spied not one, not two, but three control towers . . . . There is the original (or latest "original") tower, a completed half-height control cab with antennas on a framework tower in front, and then a two-thirds height framework structure to the north with a control cab sitting next to it, ready for placement.
What does all of this mean? Is this a part of the construction/reconstruction going on (taxiways and whatnot), or was the old tower too crowded and now the various parts (19R control, 19L control, ground control, etc) are going to get their own towers? (Couldn't they get along?) Or is it some test program? Or something else?
