Thanks chaps. A booking I made on 28th Sept, for travel tomorrow 13 Oct, could not be accessed on line at all under the 'Manage your booking'. Almost daily calls to Customer Services (now out-sourced to a call centre in India) - not to mention hours of trying to log in at different times and from different PCs in case it was a short term problem - only resulted in fairly polite people telling me my booking was live. Next call told the locator was a digit out. At one point even India was unable to locate my booking on their own screens! Turns out the original locator is correct, of course.
I have managed to check-in on line - after three attempts! First two when clicked finish brought up a page saying "Computer is down for maintenance" Third attempt - merely see if I could get in again - showed I had been checked in all the time! I have been able to print out a boarding pass so - hopefully - this will work at security tomorrow.
I wouldn't mind if I'd paid the 'tiny' non refundable, non changeable ticket but I had paid a higher fare to enable me to change/control the booking!
Sadly for Bmi during the two weeks of this I have made other bookings to London and am on the competition. Amazingly I managed to get one of the famous 'free' Ryanair 1p flights from BHD-STN and return - total was 2p. In theory this was to have been NO taxes, NO charges etc whatsoever - but I see my debit card has actually deducted 2p from my bank account - but I am not complaining!
The saddest thing of the many phone calls is no-one seems anxious to apologise, or try to retain my Bmi custom or anything. the standard mantra seems to be "the computer is down for maintenance, please try again in a few minutes..."
Who would have though online booking could be so stressful!
