JV announcement will probably be separate. I believe the JV announcement will come from Paris... I can't imagine a US company would announce its financial results from a foreign country.... but it will be before the NYSE opens which could be done timewise from PAR.

Delta ended at 20.00 a share after an up and down day today. Let's hope this announcement will boost it up to 21 tomorrow and hopefully soon we'll get above what we were when the new stock was first issued.

The proper term is "on final" not "on finals" bud...

Pretty good numbers, especially given that (if I understood it correctly) Delta repaid $1 billion in debt and spend $400 million on improving facilities and planes.
Only disappointing point is the Pacific performance, and given ATL-NRT is a strong route, it would appear that ATL-ICN has been rather disappointing performance-wise. Could we perhaps see DL dropping their own ICN service and instead make DXB daily?

No. You are misinterpreting the numbers. ICN is actually performing stronger than NRT. To be clear, NRT is still an excellent performer, just maybe not at historical levels.

Well good for Delta, I hope that this continues to increase the moral at work for the employees.

Can't wait to fly em in December!

Nice to hear ICN is performing pretty strong out of the gate.

It was quite clear from the earnings call that that won't be coming in the immediate future....

Congrats Delta! Good news for the employees that are holding Delta's stock. Let's hope they keep up the good work so their investment continues to grow.

Just goes to show that improving your product (interiors, paint, branding, airport experience, uniforms, IFE, inflight experience) will really pay off. I just wish Delta could get back to the point of running wide bodies all over the US like back in 96-97ish when they were really making money!

It should be clear that no US airline will be ordering lots of aircraft because they believe that consolidation is more valuable than a bunch of new aircraft. The size of orders that AA, DL, or UA would need are well north of $5B. It just doesn't make sense to saddle down the balance sheet until it becomes clear who will have which aircraft... and what aircraft can be retired. There will be some incremental new aircraft for specific missions to grow airline networks - which may include some 787s - but they will be growth aircraft only, not what is needed to begin the replacement cycle. For now, DL can get plenty of 777LRs in a fairly short time frame and they will be very competitive against any aircraft on the ultralong haul flights DL will use them on for many years.

Getting rid of any debt will help the bottom line especially. This largely has come by DL deferring or selling to third parties any a/c on firm order (several 738s) from what I can see. While DL could well end up leasing some of these back, they aren't committing to an overly sized fleet of something that could be superseded by Boeing that they could purchase when finances are substantially better. The 772LRs they have firmed will be important for their long-haul product they are seeking to expand. They can get them on fairly short notice as WorldTraveler eluded to above.
The poetic irony of this report is that it flys in the face (No pun intended  duck  !) of those who thought DL needed Doug Parker and Hp+US to bail them out about this time last year.  laughing
