Has anyone noticed that the B747-400 of Air India have all the windows after door 2 while all the other airlines have a few windows missing? On SIAs 744s, there are a few seats with no windows, but it appears that there is a window for every seat in an AI 744. Are there really any windows there?

it depends on the configuration of each airlines' aircraft. A normal 747-400 has all the windows (like the AI one). Some of the windows are plugged because that area is used as a galley, toilet, storage etc. probably Air India's galleys and toilets are all located in the middle of the plane.

AI paints the "missing" windows to keep the continous pattern of the typical palace windows. Actually every 747 has fuselage strengthening there.

Na, you are mistaken.

AI 744s DO have windows at that location.

I enclose below a copy of the safety equipment schematic for AI's 744s, to illustrate my point.

Also, a copy of a Boeing company publication to illustrate that this is the default option on the 744.

For a second, I thought that AI have their 744s configured with 34 " pitch in Economy, but then reality set in, and I noticed that the pic was of a hypothetical Boeing 744 model.
