It is about time that we had some airliners.net meetings out of the Northern hemisphere so why don't we organize a couple of meetings in Singapore and Perth. Singapore seems to have a large network of airliners.net members and Perth is where I live so if you have any comments drop us an e-mail or something.

I think I worded the post badly. I actually meant meetings in Perth and hopefully a larger meeting in Singapore that Perth residents can attend. So any suggestions for venue???

Well Orchard Road MRT station would be good for you Singaporeans. I've been to SIN, lovely country, although I do think it's a bit stupid not being able to chew Gum in public.

I was thinking for a meeting in Perth we meet at a location reasonably well known amongst spotters here. I was thinking of the carpark near the Helicopters Australia building. Im not sure how many ppl know of this but I know there is a few.

Gobind,
If your shouting airfares I'll be in for DFW
It looks like no one has really set a date for this, I would like to suggest the first weekend in April at PER. I believe this gives people ample time to organise travel plans if they are travelling from interstate of overseas. I have a few connections through th Royal Aeroclub here in Perth so might be able to organise a tower visit as well. Im sure we all would love to go up there and have a look. I've been up there a couple times, there is an observation level aound the outside edge of the tower so you can get some excellent photo's without having to worry about shooting through glass.
I'll stick with my original suggestion of meeting at the Helicopters Australia building on the northern side of the airport. For those who dont know where it is, here is some directions: Turn south onto Fauntleroy Ave off Great Eastern Highway. Turn left into Bungana (second left). This road becomes Valentine Rd. Helicopters Australia is at the end of this road on the right hand side just past National Jet.

I havent said anything in here for while!
Anyway, I guess If there was a meeting in PER, Id go along and have a look, Im only 10 minutes from the airport. However, I cant imagine what we would do. Perth isnt the most busiest port in the world you know.
Weve just lost 15-20 weekly qantas 747 movements. Recently lost BA. Few years ago Cathay took there 747s off the route for smaller widebodies. Singapore despite flying 21 weekly services soon to be 25 no longer have scheduled 747 services. Its quite tragic really. What adds insult to it all is all these airlines promise services to perth, but never bother with them.
ie. Where the hell is Emirates? "We'll start Perth-Dubai services in November 2000" Plus a few others have commited but have backed down. Like I said, for an avid spotter, Its quite tragic.
So unless Night Hawk gets us up in the tower, there wont be much to see or do.
None the less, Night Hawk owes me a 100 bux. So perhaps this meeting is a good idea

A meeting in Perth sounds good - count me in.
I concur with whatTAAAirbus said about the quality of spotting. Which 15-20 Qantas flights have we just lost?
My impression is there are more movements at Perth late night or early morning?

25 KrisworldB777: Air traffic at Perth is becoming boring. Now, the best time is probably about 1am with - SQ 777-200 - SQ A340-300 - GA A330-300 - QF 767-300 - TG A330
26 Gardermoen: TAA Airbus, where did you hear about SQ increasing Perth services from 21 to 25 a week? And when will this happen?
