Transaero B747-200 PTV In All Classes?

Hi all,

I just surfed a bit on the web and found a picture of the cabin of Transaero's B747-200 VP-BPX showing PTV's! Does anybody know, if every Transaero aircraft has PTV in all classes or is it an exemption?

I don't think that the PTV's were installed when they bought the aircraft. So they must have installed them just when they bought the aircraft. Or has anybody ever seen PTV on a B747-200? I haven't! Anyway it's interesting to see PTV's newly installed on a 25+ years old aircraft.

Transaero operates six ex-Virgin Atlantic B742s - the PTVs were already installed by VS.

I believe it is only the 747-200s that have PTV in all classes as they were purchased from Virgin, if I'm not mistaken.

Ahh i see. Thanks for the answer! Didn't know that they were already installed when they bought them. Does anybody know if there arem other older B742 and B743 that have PTV in all classes?

VP-BQA/BQB/BQC/BQD/BQE/BPX are all ex-Virgin Atlantic aircraft, and the picture posted by NewSwissair confirms that the cabin is ex-VS and retain the IFE system fitted by VS.

BQA (ex-G-VBEE) and BQB (ex-G-VSSS) were bought from Air Atlanta after the lease of these two aircraft to VS for the MAN-MCO route ended in April 2005 (G-VBEE left Feb 05, and G-VSSS left 1st May 05).

BQC (ex-GVPUF), BQD (ex-GVIBE) and BQE (ex-GVZZZ) were all stored at MHV for a few years after being withdrawn from the VS fleet in the aftermath of 9/11before being bought by Transaero.

VP-BPX was bought from European Aviation Air Charter (operated as G-CCMA for a short while) and operated for Virgin previously as G-VCAT, then Air Atlanta as TF-ATK. Funny enough I flew on this aircraft back in June 2000 MAN-MCO-MAN so glad to see that this aircraft is flying again.

We have a dilemma!

You might see them at various airports in the Southern European region and e.g. airports like;

PMI
BCN
CAI
MIR
LPA
TFS

and other airports which are in holiday regions frequently visited by Russian tourists, e.g.;

AYT
IST
ADB
VAR

I don't have schedules, but I guess most of their services are charters anyway.

More interesting is the question if they actually use these PTV's or only the main screens...
