This is a cheap scheme and could turn into very pleasant without big changes...

Cost cutting must have been the guideline here, and fleet communality(with Gol), hence the white engines cowlings, as well.

Cheers

Either way it has every indication of a quick photoshop job, even if it's' for quick interchange of the 737s between the two. Can't think of any major airline with a worse livery, not an image that would indicate a world class airline. It looks even cheaper than GOL's. lol

Is the hummingbird in Caribbean's livery a sticker or paint?

Caribbean Airlines is a terrible livery. There's little to be gained from anything there. BWIA's last livery was a classic.

Agree, but in these times of cost-cutting (including less complex painting processes and less added weight in the form of paint), this is probably as good as it gets.

I am pleased with the result. I think it bridges the heritage of RG with a -hopefully- brighter future. The reminiscence of the compass star or whatever it is called in the tail and winglets is not bad. All they need to do now is upgrade their long haul service. Good luck to RG! And our Brazilian friends should be, in my opinion, excited, because RG will strive to compete fiercely with JJ... and ideally this should result in lower fares and better service.

As bad as it is, it's still a lot better than Varig's.

Perhaps we should email Varig/GOL with how much this livery sucks. I'm sure a few people email them and they'll get the point. After all, you know this look isn't gonna last anywyas. Something cheap and simple can still look so much better than this, ugh. I don't even like the "updated" VARIG letters.

Officially the latin airlines are the most boring looking. Never thought I'd see the day. Probably should put my camera away and get another hobby.

how you can call these boring is totally beyond me

Though it's funny. Everytime a new livery is shown, no matter what it is on the plane, a.netters take the livery way too literally and become merciless pointing out every flaw it contains. It's just a paint job people that may last around 8 or so years. It's not your plane so why give a damn? I don't!

Agree here with C010T3. The new brand image of Varig looks great and modern. The different tail paint designs though with the same background and brand feeling is very smart and innovative. Though what a pitty that the fuselage scheme remains white with only the varig title. Too white i.m.o.

Unfortunately, the trend as of late has been to "light on the paint" schemes, that are easy to draw, cheap to paint, and save fuel. It's too bad. Varig's old scheme (the one they used until the late-1990s) was, IMO, one of the best airline schemes. Ever.

I do see the trend (though I wouldn't really find AM all too blah), but you can't officially label ALL of them as bland as you appear to be doing. Avianca amd LAN are obvious exceptions that in my opinion are far from blah. At least those have some color and eye candy.

Instead they contracted Landor (who's had more misses than hits lately) to be able to say hey we're a thrid world country but our airline's image is done by Landor! The resulting scheme, created in 1996 had little creativity.
