Apparent engine failure on departure and emergency return to ALC.
All seems ok. Relief a/c en route to ALC to collect pax. Sounds like a/c grounded for a while.

Happended around 2100Z A/C G-BYAH ALC-CWL

I didn´t know this. I´ve been on the phone to my boss this morning too, and I had pax on that flight. MyTravel have roughly 40 seats allocated on that flight. Do you know when a/c did take off?

For the record G-BYAH is a RR RB211 powered Boeing 757.

Engine failures on RB211s on 757s are rare indeed! Anymore info like foreign object ingestion etc

Rescue a/c took off at 0149z.

Crew did a great work!! Seems there was a unknown object ingestion.

Thats the second one this year for Thomsonfly on the 757, how unlucky for them.

Aircraft was G-BYAH, engine caught fire on departure and left a pretty hefty mess according to reports on another forum - it returned to ALC without any problems. Another good job done by the crew.
