Apparently South Africa and New Orleans are looking to establish new business ventures with each other. Among the speakers at this event include a South African Airways special projects delegate. Just what this position does I have no idea. Anyone in the know have a clue?

It's nice to see the city's name getting out there on an international stage. Meetings like this will pay off big time down the road.

That is interesting. I wish I knew more about New Orleans's's's non-tourist economy; but if it isn't something that makes heavy use of minerals then I'm not sure just what economic ties the SA authorities foresee.

New Orleans is a market for building materials, is what it is.

However, SAA has cool tailfins.

Pancakes are delicious.

It I had to hazard a guess, I'd say that it is a "reward for support" position for some minor politician's sibling or friend. SAA is a paratactical and a favorite dumping ground for the fruits of nepotism. As noble as this effort seems, it's likely just an all expenses paid holiday for the SAA "spokesman".

If you cannot do the math, your opinion means squat!

The WTC has had meetings like this in the past (usually a few per year) hosting various countries, but usually airlines are not involved, so this one caught my eye more than most.

I agree, it could just be a nice little vacation for the SAA rep...
