AA Expands MSY-STL (again) And Other Info

Nothing earth shattering here, but every little bit helps.

Additional nonstop eff. 1/2/08:

STL-MSY

*AA 5532 X67 STLMSY 0810 1000 ERJ 0

MSY-STL

*AA 5533 X67 MSYSTL 1025 1215 ERJ 0

If the schedule stays as is that will make five daily MSY-STL roundtrips every weekday.

Some other notes:

* DL MSY-LGA is going back to CR7 on 12/20...exactly one week after the AA mainline flights returns. Coincedence? Wink In any case I applaud DL for adding capacity while AA took a break from the market.

* US upgrading MSY-PHL capacity from 2x E90 and 1x 733 to 2x 319 and 1x 733...also, the 6:00am E.M.O to CLT will be flown with an E75 eff. 1/12; US will be operating a 757 on the 6:00am flight to CLT on 1/8, also.

* UA looks like it will be going all mainline to IAD starting in February, perhaps just a seasonal bump. We shall see.

* CO will be bringing in a lot of extra sections for Mardi Gras this year on the MSY-EWR route; Some days they'll have 7 nonstops including 757 service.

It usually is from CO, although they are flying more flights to EWR this year than in year's past.

I booked a flight to Dulles for a friend in late March, and it was showing all mainline then too.

E.M.O is airline talk for "Early Morning Originator", ie, the first departure of the day.

And you guys in New Orleans wonder why WN hasn't beefed it's service up recently. The legacies are doing it for them! Nice additions! I would love to make it down to MSY to do some spotting at some point.

Uhhhh, no.
We're still down 25% on seat count and 18% on frequencies.... the vast majority of that being lost WN service.

True however that we're still missing our int'l and boutique carriers, and NW hasn't done anything here worth mentioning either.

There's a place at the beginning of runway 19 on one of the side streets...but you'd need a rental car to get there. You're within a couple of hundred feet from the taxiway at that location. Otherwise, not too much.

This point has been discussed ad nauseam on here, but they are not going to drop those frequencies and seats on the market all at once. ESPECIALLY if the legacies are adding all the above at a decent pace. Which has been the case it would seem. Either way, be glad you got mainline on UA and CO. We here at BNA have yet to see those two step up to the plate and act like a real airline should in a market this size.

I seriously need to get back down to MSY though! UGH!

...well Captain Obvious, before ya get all preachy, allow me to ask you 1) who suggested they would and 2) since when does 26 months constitute "all at once"? Yeah sure
