Hi!
Well, maybe some of you were thinking that TP started a new route to Chile but no, just to let you know that our President, Mr. Anibal Cavaco Silva is visiting Chile right now. He arrived to SCL in one of the TP Airbus A330-200's, CS-TOF. According to the portuguese media, there are great expectations in this visit, that Portugal and Chile will boost their economic relations and maybe something more will come out from this. I don't know how Chile media is seeing this visit, so it would be nice to see their perspective too! But well, it's a start, a TP airplane in SCL!!!
Regards

Hi!
I don't think so, they still have a few A310-300's available and if they have any problem with that too they have EuroAtlantic and White around....but surely they had to reschedule the operations because I think ( I'm not sure though...) the A332 will stay in SCL until the return of the President and the Prime-Minister of Portugal, they are staying also for the Latin America/Latin Europe Summit.

Just missed it's arrival by minutes !!!
Now it's parked in the open but on a bad spot for taking good pictures.
Well, let's hope we can catch it upon departure on Saturday .
Just sit back, relax and have a glass of Merlot...enjoy your life!

Man...I feel sorry for you....it's not everyday that you see in your area a TP A332 ( unless they start flying regulary in the future of course )!
Anyway I hope you take a good shot of CS-TOF next Saturday....probably you don't know but CS-TOF was the first A330-200 that TAP received last year!

Maybe this is when new european carriers will move into the region. Is good they take advantage of the lack of interest from the big ones a.k.a British, Lufthansa (I know...they fly under LX costume), AZ and KL (AF).

A related question about the Latin american summit that's just started in SCL: any other exotic visitors and who else is arriving in what? OK, I guess I'm just curious to know if Hugo Chavez arrived in a Sukoi as he recently joked!

Quoting Avion660 (Reply 6): any other exotic visitors and who else is arriving in what?
Well thanks Avion660!!! I like the expression "exotic" regarding TP!!! I think I would say the same to LAN-Chile if I had the chance to see them here in LIS! But let me tell you something, I have excelent sights of LAN...let me share with you....December 2003, I was waiting for my flight at LAX to Europe ( flying with LX brand new A343 to ZRH...), I was at TB Terminal spotting airplanes with my two son's when I saw taking-off an "very-heavy" LAN A343 from LAX 24L runway.
The next and last time I saw a LAN airplane was in June 2004 at GIG, a 767-300 arriving there! I never saw a LAN airplane in LIS, but I would love to!!!

Well, actually there are many (for us) 'exotic' aircraft now parked in SCL, like the Spanish A310, Brazilian 732, Venezuela 707 and 737, Argentina 757....and the list goes on. The problem is really that you need to catch them either on arrival or on departure, as all of them are parked rather out of sight (security I guess). It was impossible to catch almost anybody on arrival, as many arrived during night time, and the others flightplans were not published, so you could only guess (or just be plain lucky!). However, on Saturday the meeting will officially end, thus I hope that we can get a couple of these upon departure.
Just sit back, relax and have a glass of Merlot...enjoy your life!

We nailed it!!!!!!
At least four of us got good views of CS-TOF during take-off late afternoon, and here's a small preview (cannot post the picture - some white screen appearing, but if you want to see it it's in my profile).
It was an afternoon full of interesting aircraft here at SCL, very much unlike any other boring Saturday. BTW, does anybody know what Lauda OE-LNP was doing here???

Hi!
Very nice photos indeed RJ_Delta!!! I enjoyed very much to see that Panama Gulfstream and the TP A330-200 looks absolutely fantastic in the surroundings of SCL airport, thanks for sharing those photos my friend...now you must keep "the fingers crossed" regarding TP...maybe they will come regularly to SCL!!!

Quoting RJ_Delta (Reply 17): Thanks for the comments but the photos are from some Chilean Spotters: Alejandro Ruiz, Carlos Valle and Fernando Olivares.
Thanks for the link, and my congratulations to all too... sounds, and looks, like a great afternoon.
Quoting JoeCattoli (Reply 16): It's just beyond me that the King and Zapatero travelled on two different planes...
Yes, amazing. Still, nice to see that T22-2 is still flying... I went on this in it's former identity as an AF flight ,CDG-IAD in 1991 (F GEMQ); my first visit to the US!

Hey, well...a King is still a King right??? We cannot forget, "blue blood" issues, etc. etc. By the way, this King is a tough guy right, when he said Hugo Chavez to shut up eh!eh!eh! Must have been really wild in Chile right???
