Yesterday evening (13.11.07) Estonian Air flight OV102 from LGW to TLL (a Boeing 737-500 ES-ABC) had a malfunction of the FMS, causing the crew to switch to manual navigation and divert to HAM for an emergency landing, escorted by two fighters. The aircraft landed safely, the passengers were provided with a hotel and taken to TLL today on the regular Hamburg flight. The aircraft remains at Hamburg for further checks.

Nice job from the crew getting the plane safely down.

I am really puzzled here: why fighters? Did their communications broke down as well? Any info from the HAM spotters maybe?

Lost all air data - no altitude or speed readings.
In the dark as well. Could easily have been another Air Peru.

As far as I know, radio comms were still working.
