As a frequent JJ flyer (cartao vermelho),i have booked 2 rtn trips from SSA to LIS and then onto LHR with TP over the next 6 weeks but ,only because i can collect JJ points (thanks to JJ/TP recent agreement),the last time i flew withh TP was about14/15 years ago,and i swore never again (absolutely awful),i then flew only with RG (cartao diamante),and was always very happy with them until a few years ago, when as we all know they hit rock bottom, which is when i switched to JJ,generally i find JJ pretty good, although there is room for improvement on several fronts,(aisan carriers such as SQ,CX for sure are light years ahead),anyway does anybody know if TP have seatback PTVs in Y class on there 332s and what is there service like now since Fernando Pinto (worse thing RG did was when they got rid of him) took over, not to sure looking at some of the feedback on Airlinequality.com,but any thoughts would be appreciated,i was given a TP victoria gold card, but will collect points on my JJ card, for sure JJ frequent flyer program is more generous than TPs Victoria program.
Just a quick side note,i am really really hoping that the hype surrounding Airbus annoucement next Wensday is an order from JJ for some Airbus 380s,wow that would be just amzing, way to go JJ,but will have to wait and see like everybody else, hoping that JJMNGR (hi Richard, your a busy, busy man these days, hope your well),knows something that we all do not know, qoute;; Queen of the skies;;.

I do not like TP as well, but I have booked GVA-LIS-GIG and back twice on C still this year (but only because of Miles and More). In fact I will fly the first of these next sunday, so I can take a look and let you know.
PVT on C is already ridiculous as it is not VOD and they showed the same 3 movies on the way to GIG and back last month. Also service overall (food and else) is totally unacceptable.
So stay on the safe side and bring your MP3, magazines, some sandwiches and the rest will be ok...at least the miles will pay off...
They are supposed to receive new A330s starting November, but I do not know how they configurated those.
"...this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem. All four engines have stopped."
You bet you're right about that...after the way you've "painted" TP itself when you flew TP 14/15 years ago I don't think many of the portuguese guys here will like to share their experiences...I'm in the same mood either!

Sorry if you are anyway offended my post,,,,NOT MY INTENTION,,,,
Am actually quite looking foward to flying with TP again, when i collected my e-tickets here in SSA yesterday the sales agent was very nice and proffessional, let me say i travel a lot by air all over the world and have some bad experiences with some of the best airlines, and even with JJ lately have had some bad treatment, more so with ground staff than in the air where generally they are very good indeed, smiles, very helpfull, and a decent product in Y/C/F.

I flew TAP this past summer from LHR to LIS on an A310, and was generally disappointed. The actual service for the sector was quite good, but you couldn't ask for more austere flight attendants. I don't think I ever saw one of them crack a smile. The seat I was in was also extremely uncomfortable, as it was worn beyond acceptable. I was sore after the two hour flight, and I can't imagine flying on the same aircraft across the pond.
On that note, other recent TAP flights on their A320 fleet have been very pleasant.

That's OK, I just said what generally a portuguese guy would think about that...if you start a post already saying that it was awful, well I think generally we would say - "Well what I'm going to write if he's already pulling down TP??? It's not worth of it and it will not help!" - I flew a few times TP lately, in Europe and 3 years ago LIS/GIG/LIS in the A340-300. Generally TP in Europe it's no different that other airlines I tried lately, like AF, LH, KL. You get an hot sandwish, a cake and drinks. I flew in October 2006 LIS/AMS, November 2006 FRA/LIS, and in March 2007 LIS/GVA and ZRH/LIS and the F/A's gave a good service, I asked for extra drinks and they NEVER refused me that! The planes were in good condition except maybe in my flight FRA/LIS were our A319, CS-TTO was a bit worned out. TP uses pop-down screens and you can see some programs that can really help you during your flight, for example I flew AF and LH A320's and none had those!
Regarding my long-haul experience, well that was already 3 years ago, so it might changed but the flight was good, again the meals were OK, nothing much different compared with other airlines, but here I must agree that I flew long-haul lately with KL, CO and AF and TP would be more like CO level, but with the benefit of having wine and spirits, something that CO don't give you. F/A's once again were kind and I asked to try both red and white wine and they didn't refused it. Entertainment of course it's old style in the A340-300, but then I also experienced that with KL when I flew the 744! Regarding what you can expect, well first of all you cannot forget that the 7 A330-200's TP have are ex: Swissair and ex: Austrian...I seriously think TP when they have to make changes in these airplanes they will try to put them closely to the brand new A330-200's that TP will receive...but that's what can normally happens when you receive 2nd. airplanes! But regarding the new A330-200's I can tell you they have THE TOP OF THE LINE AVODS...like the other airlines, and maybe even better than some airlines "considered good ones"!
You might be lucky to fly one of the new ones, the first, CS-TOL will arrive on the 30th. November and will start flying in December!
That's all I have to say right now. Regarding your message in portuguese I'll send you an MP OK?

Hi CV990: why you always get offended when someone says bad things about TAP?
As you say you flew them 3 years ago on long haul. I fly with them more often than that and they are one of the worst companies in Europe on long-haul. Old arrogant flight attendants, delayed flights, no PTV except on a few 330 and expensive tickets compared to, for example, Iberia. They survive because of the huge portuguese immigrant community that prefer to fly a portuguese airline.
Fernando Pinto will leave the company as soon as it gets privatized and people realize the fake financial reports he has been doing.
This year will be one more year of poor results compared with almost all european flagship airlines which are reporting huge profits. Your opinion regarding this?

What you said here, is again completely irrelevant because I've already cleared that out with the person involved, in this case Glennpower, so you're trying the "shake waters" that are currently clean!

That comment is a complete non-sense, I'm not going to discuss it because you're lying and you must be masochist because you hate TP but you still with them, something in your post doesn't make sense!

Once again, you're lying because you don't have sources about that!

I didn't knew that you had the "gift" of guessing...the year haven't finished yet but you already know that it's going to be bad...that's fantastic and amazing indeed!!!
You want my opinion about "this" what? What you said in your post? It's absolutely fantastic and I'm quite impressed with it...and looking forward to see more like these ones...keep the same pace my friend because you'll get there!!!

Quoting Avianca (Reply 10): any information regarding there J product on the A310 ??? I am planing a trip on a CCS-LIS-MUC run... next year...
Has you know TP is phasing-out the A310, until August next year! Maybe with some luck you'll fly already in the A330-200! If you fly the A310-300, well the plane is in their "last days" of operationalitty, so it looks quite old, but if you have the chance to fly it it would be one of your last chances to fly in that plane! Have you ever flew on the A310-300?
