Hi Guys,
I just came back from Moscow, and remember reading in the in-flight magazine that Air France would be changing all the IFE for their 777-200.
Is this correct or was it one vodka-too many on the way back? If true, when will they complete this change? I am flying in December CDG-SCL and I am fed up with the IFE system. I've made the trip 3 times this year and always fly on Y.

Yes, correct. Both Air France and KLM are in the progress of "gradually" updating their IFE systems.
The new system will be AVOD with 85 movie channels, 200 CD's and more.
According to http://www.flyingbluenews.com/html/4/news/7/be_spoilt_for_choice.html the update will start in November, seen the large number of frames operated by AF I reckon your chances to get the new IFE in December on CDG-SCL are very very slim.

That sucks big time. You have no idea how boring it gets with the same system. Maybe I am complaining too much, if I were using AR to Chile I would get to IFE system at all.
On one of my flights this year, the IFE system broke, as well as the reading light. The flight was packed, and I had to sit there for 14 hours...

Happens quite often I think. AF is known to give some compensation for this if you write them using the "complaints form" that is available from the Flight Manager. It is important you have the flight manager to sign the complaint on board. I don;t know whether it always works, but it is worth a try.

I do. Flown AF 772 myself and like you say the IFE ain't perfect but there's a number of airlines serving SCL that don't offer PTV in Y at all, Iberia, Air Canada (on most of the 767's), Delta...

You must think I am the world worst complainer. Maybe I am today (spent two hours to come to work)... Sorry about that.
I love flying with Air France. In fact, the time my system failed, they gave me 6.000 miles. Maybe not too much, but I thought it was Ok.
I guess having flown CDG-SCL-CDG too many times this year left me hoping for a better system.
Should I even cross my fingers, or I have no chance at all of getting the new system, does anyone know?

I think it's for all A/C and not only the 772. This wouldn't make sense to do it only on the 772.
