Why No Russian MD-80's?

No Russian Airline is operating MD-80's, why? Any chance to see some soon?

I dont think that there is any special reason as to why no Russian carrier operates the MD80........many MD80s will be coming onto the second hand market in the coming years (just think of the AA fleet alone) and smaller or start-up Russian carriers could be interested in picking up MD80s at favorable prices. While the MD80 consumes more fuel on a per pax basis than the newest 737NGs or A32Xs, it could be an alternative to some older aging Russian short to medium range airplanes still in service.
